ECP approves purchase of transplant ballot boxes
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday approved purchase of 125,000 transparent ballot boxes at the estimated cost of Rs10 million.
The approval was granted in a meeting of the ECP held here with Chief Election Commissioner Justice (r) Hamid Ali Mirza in the chair. ECP members Justice (r) Fazalur Rehman,Justice (r) Shahzad Akbar Khan, Justice (r) Riaz Kayani and Justice (r) Muhammad Roshan Essani attended the meeting.
The estimated cost of each ballot box will be Rs1000. The ECP also allotted the symbol of scooter to Awami Tehrik Bahalee Bahawalpur.The aforementioned party has already been registered with the ECP since 2007-08.
The ECP accorded approval to intra party elections of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Freedom Party in accordance with Political Parties Order 2002.
The meeting also accorded approval to one grade up promotion to ECP employees from grade 1 to 20. However, the CEC directed the observance of merit and evaluation before enhancing the grade of each employees.
The meeting expressed satisfaction over the preparations for door to door verification campaign on Aug 22.
