Customs staff strike may cause shortage of commodities
KARACHI: Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on Liaison with FBR, Shakeel Ahmed Dhingra has urged Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, Salman Siddique to immediately resolve the issue of indefinite strike by customs.
The customs officials are on strike to protest against the arrest of two custom officials, said release by Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) here on Saturday.
He argued that the protest has blocked all customs processing/clearance work at all the ports and as such import and export of goods worth billions of rupees has been stuck up.
Mr Dhingra apprehended that this may create shortage of imported industrial raw material causing delay in meeting export orders and consumer goods as well.
