ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab on Wednesday told the National Assembly that registration of vehicles and issuance of fitness certificate to heavy vehicles is the responsibility of provincial governments.
Replaying to a question, the minister said that Motorway and Highway police checks the fitness certificate of heavy vehicles at the entry points.
He said that NH&MP checks potentially hazardous vehicles with poor body, tyres or improperly/heavily loaded vehicles and takes appropriate action by issuing challan or restricting their entry on Motorway and Highway.
Replaying to another question the minister said that three major road projects were launched in Balochistan during the last five year, Kolpur bypass, Qila Saifullah-Zohb and Four bridges on National highway.
He said PSDP allocation 2013-14 for the project of Balochistan is Rs 12,492.1 million and funds of Rs 11,604.1 million has been released.
