Excise & Taxation Department gets 84pc tax target

KHANEWAL: Excise and Taxation Department has achieved 84 percent of its target for the year 2010-11 with the collection of Rs102 million taxes.

According to district Excise and Taxation Officer Ikram Ul Haq, excise department work hard to ensure the recovery of taxes.

He said the department has set target to recover Rs119 million in line with different taxes from different departments for the year.

He disclosed that Rs20 millions were recovered as property tax, Rs46 million as motor-vehicle tax, Rs0.4 as excise duty, Rs2.2 million as professional tax, Rs4 million cotton tax and some other taxes were recovered from different business centres.
