Professor Mumtaz welcomes govt's strategy of widening tax net

ISLAMABAD: Economics Professor Mumtaz Anwar on Thursday welcomed government strategy of widening the tax net.

Talking to a private news channel, he said the coming budget is very important, as there is need of relying upon country's own resources under existing critical situation.

He termed government strategy of widening tax net instead of putting more burden on existing taxpayers as positive step in a right direction.

To a question, Mumtaz Anwar said agricultural tax can generate income but government should enforce it after thorough study because agricultural sector is already facing many problems due to high prices of agricultural inputs.
