MOSCOW: Russia's biggest lender Sberbank said on Tuesday it made a net profit of 86.8 billion roubles ($3.09 billion) in the first quarter of 2011, double its net profit of 43.5 billion roubles in the same period in 2010.
In April Sberbank said its net profit under Russian Accounting Standards (RAS) almost doubled in the first quarter to 83.9 billion roubles.
The state-controlled bank sees full-year net profit at 230-250 billion roubles this year after earning 182 billion roubles in 2010 and 24.4 billion roubles in 2009.
