MANILA: Meeting the Philippine government's economic growth target of 7-8 percent for 2011 will be challenging, central bank governor Amando Tetangco said after the release of first-quarter growth data on Monday.
He said since the target was set there had been unexpected developments, such as the turmoil in the Middle East and North Africa and the disasters in Japan.
He said monetary policy continued to be appropriately balanced and supportive of non-inflationary growth.
