ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Railways will operate five special trains on eve of Eid ul Azha and has announced 40 percent fare reduction on these trains during all three days of Eid to facilitate passengers. "This step has been taken in order to help reach the passengers at their respective destinations and celebrate Eid with their beloved families", an official Ministry of Railways told APP on Wednesday.
The first special train from Karachi to Peshawar will operate on October 13 at 11:00 am while the second one will ply from Quetta to Rawalpindi at 12:00 noon on the same date and is scheduled to reach its destination at 6:45 on October 14. The third train will leave from Karachi at 11:00 am on Oct.14 and is scheduled to reach Lahore at 11:30 am on October 15.
The fourth special train will operate from Peshawar at 12:00 noon on October 15 and is scheduled to reach Lahore at 9:10 pm on the same date.
The last and fifth special train will operate from Rawalpindi on October 15 at 7:00 am and is scheduled to reach Multan at 11:00 pm on the same date.
He said that the Ministry of Railways has also decided to further reduced its fares to attract passengers which would take effect from October 21. This decision has been taken on the directives of Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique. It has also been decided that reduction in fares would be revisited after every three months, he added.
Pakistan Railways, he said has taken several steps to facilitate the passengers as Pakistan Railways is cheaper mode of transportation in the country. In the economy class, the fare of Karachi Express would be Rs 1130, instead of Rs 1520 per passenger from Lahore to Karachi, of Millat Express it would be Rs 1130, instead of Rs 1520 from Karachi to Sargodha, of Millat Express Rs 1050 instead of Rs 1470 from Karachi to Faisalabad and Rail Car Rs 340 instead of Rs 440 from Lahore to Rawalpindi.
For the air-conditioned sleeper, Khyber Mail would charge Rs 4,000 instead of Rs 5370 from Karachi to Lahore, Tezgam Rs 4000 instead of Rs 5370 from Karachi to Lahore, Karachi Express Rs 4,000 instead of Rs 5370 from Lahore to Karachi, Tezgam from Rawalpindi to Karachi Rs 4700 instead of Rs 6300 and Jaafer Express will charge Rs 4490 instead of Rs 6300 from Quetta to Karachi.
For the air-conditioned business class, Jaafer Express will charge Rs 4110 from Quetta to Rawalpindi and Rs 3590 from Quetta to Lahore. Khyber Mail, Tezgam and Karachi Express will charge Rs 3000 instead of Rs 3500, Millat Express Rs 2760 instead of Rs 3270 from Faisalabad to Karachi, Kahiber Mail and Tezgam Rs 3710 instead of Rs 5220 from Rawalpindi to Karachi and Rs 3710 instead of Rs 5220 from Peshawar to Karachi. The fare of AC Parlour of Rail Car will be Rs 840 instead of Rs 910.
