ECB's Liikanen-no country wants to leave euro zone

HELSINKI: No euro zone country wants to leave the common currency, European Central bank Governing Council member Erkki Liikanen said on Saturday.

Germany's Spiegel Online reported on Friday that the Greek government had raised the prospect of an exit with its partners. European officials denied this was the case.

"No euro zone country wants to leave the euro," Liikanen, who also heads the Bank of Finland, said in an interview at Finnish national broadcaster Yle.

Liikanen also said restructuring Greek debt would not offer a permanent solution to its problems.
