SHANGHAI: Chinese shares were flat in early trade Thursday as losses in real estate and cement stocks tempered gains in financial companies, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, edged down 1.57 points to 2,923.84.
The Shanghai A-share index shed 0.04 percent, or 1.11 points, to 3,062.72, while the Shenzhen A-share index dipped 0.42 percent, or 5.41 points, to 1,268.39.
