NAWABSHAH: Ali Muhammed Dahri, a local leader of Pakistan Muslim League Functional was killed alongwith his 4-year old granddaughter Hawwa while they were returning home from the Sessions Court here on Thursday.
The deceased was the Vice Chairman Sindh Bar Council and President Functional Lawyers Forum Sindh. The incident took place some 500 meters from the District and Sessions Courts. The unidentified assailants four in number opened fire at him when he left the Sessions Court.
Both Ali Muhammad and Hawwa received serious bullet wounds on their heads and bodies and succumbed to injuries at Peoples Medical College Hospital. The news of double murder spread like jungle fire and unruly people forced shopkeepers to close shops.
Eye witnesses told that two pedestrians were also wounded in firing. Dahri was twice elected President of District Bar Association and was recently elected as Vice Chairman Sindh Bar Council.
In the meantime, President and General Secretary District Bar Association Ayaz Ali Gopang and Ziaul Hassan Lanjar expressed deep concern over the killing of the senior advocate. The Sindh Bar Council and District Bar Association announced one week mourning. District President Pakistan Muslim League Functional Syed Zahid Hussain Shah expressed deep sorrow and termed it a big shock for the party and lawyers community. District Police Officer Yunus Hussain Chandio said that city has been cordoned off and roads sealed to apprehend the killers.
