Unilever's profits up by 54pc

KARACHI: Unilever Pakistan Ltd has posted a higher profit after tax of Rs 899 million for the quarter ending March 31,2011.

According to financial results despatched to Karachi Stock Exchange here Friday, the profit before tax has surged to Rs 1.360 billion during the period under review compared to Rs 896 million in same period last year.

The earning per share (EPS) also improved to Rs 67.60 compared to Rs 43.77 in March 2010.

The over all profit after tax has surged by 54 percent, owning to lower financial charges in the quarter.

The home and personal care business grew by 23 percent, while ice cream improved by 18 percent and spreads product sales surged by 37 percent during the period under review.
