shares higher in morning trade

SHANGHAI: Chinese shares rose 0.43 percent in early trade Thursday, led by gains in coal miners and metal companies after a rise in global commodity prices overnight, dealers said.

The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was up 12.93 points at 3,019.97.

The Shanghai A-share index jumped 0.43 percent, or 13.57 points, to 3,162.07, while the Shenzhen A-share index added 0.18 percent, or 2.35 points, to 1,335.64.
