NEW YORK: The Australian dollar extended gains against the US dollar and rose to a fresh post-float high on Wednesday amid rising risk tolerance.
The aussie was allowed to float freely in December 1983 and was last up 1.6 percent against the dollar at $1.0686 after going as high as $1.0692.
