Malik urges Punjab Govt to take action against LJ
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday said that he had written a letter to Punjab government urging to take action against presence of banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ) in the province.
Talking to media outside the Parliament House, he said the responsibility of the federal government to share intelligence information with provinces about possible terrorist attacks , however, but it was the responsibility of the province to take action against militants.
To a question, he said Punjab government was able to avert number of terrorist attacks due to timely information provided by the federal government.
He said security agencies had carried out successful operations to curb terrorist activities in the country, adding 31 people belonging to various banned outfits had been arrested so far.
Replying to a question, he said some elements were trying to destabalize the country by promoting sectarianism.
Rehman Malik stressed the need of collective response to combat terrorism.
