PIA to acquire more planes

  COLOMBO: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will acquire more planes for its fleet.

This was stated by the Managing Director of the national flag carrier, Captain Nadeem Yousufzai.

Talking to reporters in the Sri Lankan capital he said: " We would like to have those aircraft which are fuel economical, two engines and two person cockpit".

Captain Yousufzai pointed out that the PIA needs long-range and medium-range planes.

He further stated that a study is being carried out in this very regard.

Yousufzai was here in connection with the re-launch of PIA flights from Karachi to Colombo after a gap of over three years.

He said that the PIA is going to expand in accordance with the vision of the President.

Yousufzai referred to his meeting with the officials of the Civil Aviation of Sri Lanka and said that the Sri Lankans had wholeheartedly welcomed us which was beyond our expectations.

He said that the same was of attitude of the officials of the Air Lanka.

Yousufzai said that PIA would enter into code-sharing with Air Lanka and that we would go on to Australia.

He said that every effort would be made to make sure that the PIA make headway.
