‘Indian govt creating another Palestine’: Opposition slams BJP over IoK decision

Government's move to scrape Article 370 and removing Indian occupied Kashmir's (IoK) special status has come under strong criticism by the Indian opposition.

The parliament erupted into a protest soon after Indian Home Minister Amit Shah put forward the proposal to revoke Article 370. Criticising the Indian government for removing IoK's special status, Member of the Communist Party of India, T. K. Rangarajan said that the government was creating 'another Palestine'.

Addressing the Parliament on Monday, Rangarajan said that it is a 'black day' today in India. He lambasted the government and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has 'raped' the Indian constitution.

He further said the government did not consult people of IoK as well as Ladakh. "You dissolved assembly, you don't want to hold any election. You've taken another 35000 Army people there. You're creating another Palestine," the parliamentarian warned.

Similarly, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Parliament Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the BJP had murdered the constitution and has no sense of  'history and geography'.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has lambasted the government's decision, terming it 'totally unconstitutional'. He said that such a decision should not have been pushed through in an arbitrary manner, Indian media reported.
