US-Taliban talks: PM says Pakistan will do everything to further peace process

Following his promise to help promote peace between United States and Afghan Taliban, Pakistan helped in arranging peace talks between the two countries at United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Prime Minister Imran Khan took to his Twitter handle and wrote that he prays that the peace dialogues between US and Afghan ends three decades of suffering of the brave Afghan people. PM Khan also reiterated that Pakistan will do everything within its power to help promote peace between the two countries.

Pakistan has helped in the dialogue between Taliban and the US in Abu Dhabi. Let us pray that this leads to peace and ends almost three decades of suffering of the brave Afghan people. Pakistan will be doing everything within its power to further the peace process.

Representatives from both US and Afghan Taliban had met in Abu Dhabi on Monday. What took place during the meeting is yet to be transpired. This meeting was held days after US President Donald Trump wrote letter to PM Khan, asking Pakistan's assistance in bringing Taliban leadership to the negotiating table.

Soon after on December 14, PM Khan announced that Pakistan had arranged peace talks between US and Afghan Taliban. Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal also expressed hoped that the peace talks would end bloodshed and bring peace to the region.
