Many iPhone and iPad users that have iOS 12 beta installed have recently been seen reporting an Apple bug that forces them to update to the new iOS version, though there isn’t any.

Since the past few days many iOS 12 beta users have reported a notification continuously being popped-up on their phones asking them to update to the latest beta release, even though there are no updates available and users are already using the most recent version of iOS beta.

The pop-ups have been surfacing since the latest beta was released on August 27, but started to increase gradually. Users see the pop-up every time the iPhone/iPad running the beta is unlocked. The popup must be manually dismissed each and every time before an iOS device can be accessed.

Apple finally sends out invites for it big annual event

Frustrated users took to social media site Twitter, sharing screenshots of the erroneous pop-up that reads, “A new iOS update is now available. Please update from the iOS 12 beta.”

Moreover, as per 9to5Mac, it is still not clear if there is a server-side fix available for the issue, or if Apple will have to push a new update altogether. For now, there doesn’t seem to be any way for the affected users to fix the bug.

The bug surfaces less than two weeks before Apple is set to host its big annual event on September 12 where it is expected to reveal three new iPhones along with other products.
