After years of demand, the users of micro blogging platform Twitter can enjoy celebrity status as it will soon make available the most-coveted blue checkmarks for everyone, the company’s CEO Jack Dorsey announced.

According to Dorsey, expanding verification tick to more users could help the company in ensuring the real identity of the user behind the screen. “The intention is to open verification for everyone and to do it in a way that is scalable, where we are not in the way and people can verify more facts about themselves and we do not have to be the judge or imply any bias on our part," he said in a livestream on Periscope.

Introduced in 2009, the blue tick on the micro-blogging website lets people know that an account is authentic. Currently, the feature is only available for celebrities, sports personalities and public figures.

However, no details regarding the expansion have been released by the social media giant.
