KARACHI: Pakistan hockey team has pulled an exhilarating 7-0 triumph against host Bangladesh in the first match of the Hockey Asia Cup at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday.

According to the information made available here, Abu Bakr scored a hat-trick while Ammad Shakeel Butt and Arslan Qadir both braced for the green-shirts to give their team an impressive 7-0 win. Pakistan will now play Japan on Friday.

Earlier, India defeated Japan 5-1. The eight-team tournament, which will decide the Asian top side, also serves as the qualifying round for World Cup 2018 as it gives its champion a direct spot for the marquee event.
