Raja-Pervez-Ashraf 400ISLAMABAD: The PPP has nominated Raja Pervez Ashraf as the new prime minister of Pakistan announced by senior PPP leader Syed Khursheed Shah during a press conference at the Parliament house on Friday.

Khursheed Shah made the announcement along with coalition leaders Afsaryab Khattak of ANP, Haider Abbas Rizvi of MQM and Sardar Bahadur Sahar of PML-Q.

It may be mentioned that Raja Pervez Ashraf has been dogged by allegations of corruption as minister of water and power. He remained minister till the Supreme Court disqualified Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani as prime minister on June 19.

According to Khursheed Shah, the coalition partners had authorised the PPP to nominate a candidate for the slot of prime minister.

Khursheed Shah maintained that Raja Pervez Ashraf is a seasoned politician and deserves the nomination for the position.

The 20th prime minister of the country will be selected in the National Assembly session called for later today.
