ISLAMABAD: Supreme court on Monday indicted Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for contempt over the government's two-year refusal to re-open graft cases against the president, state television said.
Gilani is the first sitting prime minister in Pakistan ever to be indicted, in a move that could cost him his job.
However, the Prime Minister challenged the charge sheet and said he will challenge the idictment.
The court adjourned the hearing till February 22.
The court exempted the Prime Minister from appearing in the next hearing.
A seven-member bench headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk heard the contempt of court case.
