The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) crossed the 600,000-investor mark for the first time in its history, reflecting a sharp increase in retail participation and growing confidence in the country’s capital markets.
According to data shared by the Finance Ministry on Thursday, the total number of investors reached 607,025 in July, while 23,973 new accounts were opened during the month, marking the second-highest monthly investor addition on record.
The ministry said the latest expansion had been driven largely by Generation Z and first-time retail investors, signalling broader participation in Pakistan’s equity market.
The latest figures show that the PSX investor base has expanded by more than 332,000 since June 2022, rising from around 275,000 to over 607,000 investors—an increase of 121% in just over four years.
The pace of investor growth has also accelerated significantly. Average monthly investor additions increased from around 2,300 in FY23 and FY24 to 5,300 in FY25 before surging to 15,860 in FY26.
Investor based at the PSX had crossed 500,000 back in February 2026.
