Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Turkiye on a two-day official visit, state media PTV News reported on Monday citing security sources.
According to the security sources, Field Marshal Munir received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Turkiye.
During the visit, he will hold important meetings with Turkiye’s military and political leadership to discuss matters of mutual interest.
The development comes a month after Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, called on Pakistan’s military leadership during an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral defence cooperation.
During his meeting with CDF Munir at GHQ in Rawalpindi, discussions had focused on matters of mutual professional interest, evolving regional security dynamics, and avenues to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation between the two brotherly countries, according to the military’s media wing.
The army chief had highlighted the deep-rooted historical, cultural and strategic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye and appreciated ongoing defence collaboration between the armed forces.
At Air Headquarters in Islamabad, the visiting general had met Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu as well.
Both sides had discussed avenues for strengthening bilateral military cooperation and institutional linkages.
The Turkish Land Forces Commander had also lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions towards regional peace and stability.
He had expressed commitment to further deepening defence ties between the armed forces of the two countries.
