JHANG: A fodder factory located in Rauf Wala area near here caught fire due to lightning when heavy rains and hailstorm lashed Jhang and its adjoining areas on Monday. A young worker also died when a heavy fodder bundle fell on him when he was trying to shift bundles to save them from fire.
The deceased labourer was identified as 20-year Tauqeer. He sustained serious injuries and died on the way to hospital. It is said that four workers were busy preparing bundles of wheat-straws used as fodder for the livestock when the lightning struck the factory. Each bundle of straws weighs 40kg.
The factory used to sell fodder bundles in Karachi cattle market. The factory was saved from total destruction by the village people.
Meanwhile four trees burnt to ashes when the lightning struck at Toba Road.
