PARIS: France raised 7.965 billion euros ($10.35 billion) in a medium-term bond issue on Thursday, said Agence France Tresor, which managed the auction.
The interest rate on bonds with two and four year maturities fell while that for bonds coming to term in five years rose in the auction in which France sought to raise between 7 and 8 billion euros.
France paid an average interest rate of 0.2 percent for 3.165 billion euros worth of two-year bonds, less than half of the 0.54 percent it paid in the previous such issue on June 21.
It paid 0.53 percent to raise 1.295 billion euros in the four-year issue, down from 1.05 percent on June 21.
But the rate rose slightly for 3.505 billion euros in five-year bonds, reaching 0.98 percent as compared to 0.86 percent during the previous auction of such bonds on July 19.
