The Pakistan Agricultural Storage & Services Corporation (PASSCO) is all set to launch its wheat procurement drive 2020 from Sindh & Balochistan from March 10, 2020, and in Punjab from April 01, 2020, with a target of buying total 1.6 million tons of grains.

The Board of Directors of the Corporation in a recent meeting approved the procurement policy of the Corporation and asked it to initiate the drive at the earliest. The Corporation has been tasked to buy 250,000 tons of wheat from Sindh, 1.65 million tons from Punjab and 50,000 tons of grain from the Balochistan province. Growers will be paid Rs1365 per maund for their grains.

General Manager (Field) PASSCO Muzahir Iqbal while confirming the buying target said that recent rain spells and other circumstances may slightly delay the start of procurement, though all the initial arrangements have been completed. He said they may start procurement in Sindh & Balochistan between March 10 to 15 and in Punjab from April 01 to 05, 2020.

He said in Sindh they will be procuring wheat from Khairpur, Shaheed Benazir Abad, Skrund, Hyderabad and Umer Kot while in Punjab the Corporation will be in action in 16 Tehsils.
