The National Assembly Standing Committee on Law and Justice on Thursday unanimously recommended that an inquiry should be conducted by the Ministry of Railways and a report of the same should be submitted to the committee with details why and how the gas cylinders were brought into the train when the same are banned in Pakistan.

The committee met here under the chairmanship of MNA Riaz Fatyana. Before proceedings with the agenda, the committee offered Fateha for the departed souls of the passengers in train incident, which occurred in the morning on Thursday when the train suddenly caught fire near Rahim Yar Khan while travelling between Karachi and Lahore. The committee also condemned and took serious notice of the incident of rape of a seven-year-old school girl in Pannu Aqil.

The committee recommended that inspector general of police Sindh shall inquire into the matter and submit detailed report of the incident to the committee. The committee also took serious notice of mushroom growth of female hostels in various cities of the country and recommended to the federal government and all the provincial governments to establish regulatory bodies to register and regulate private female hostels. In this context two members of the committee from Balochistan drew attention of the committee towards the issue of installation of cameras in washrooms of girl's hostel of Balochistan University.

The committee unanimously recommended that an inquiry should be conducted by the Chief Minister Balochistan and the report of the same should be submitted to the committee. Later, the committee decided to proceed with the agenda. The committee considered "The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Article 25)," moved by MNA Dr Nafisa Shah. After detailed deliberations, the committee deferred the same till its next meeting with recommendation that it should be redrafted as per observations of the committee and then be placed before the committee.

The committee reconsidered "The Federal Ombudsmen Institutional Reforms (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Article 22)" and "The Recognition and Enforcement (Arbitration Agreements and Foreign Arbitral Awards) (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Article 9)," moved by MNA Syed Fakhar Imam, and after detailed deliberations deferred the same till its next meeting.

The committee also re-considered "The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Articles # 76 and 106)," moved by MNA Kishwar Zahra, and after detailed deliberations deferred the same till its next meeting. The committee considered "The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Article # 51 and 59)," moved by MNA Kishwar Zahra. After detailed deliberations, the committee recommended that the same be referred to the House with recommendation that a Parliamentary/Special Committee shall be constituted for consideration of the same.
