This is how you will look like if you keep working in office for 20 years
- Health experts created a dummy with a hunched posture, sallow skin and red eyes.
- They have called for changes in working conditions to protect health of the office workers.
Health experts have created a dummy which has a permanently hunched posture, red eyes, protruding stomach and sallow skin-which they have predicted will be the future of office workers in 20 years.
The research was conducted by Behavioural Futurist William Higham and a team of experts from the fields of ergonomics, occupational health and professional well-being. The team came up with the life-sized dummy which they have named 'Emma', after conducting surveys of more than 3,000 workers in France, Germany and the UK.
'Emma' has developed a hunched posture sitting for hours every day over her desk, sallow skin for spending years trapped under the glare of artificial light and dry red eyes from prolonged exposure to a computer screen.
The researchers found that office workers spend an average of six hours sitting at a desk each day. The team warned that if the officer workers do not change their habits, they will have the same impact on their bodies. Higham said that report shows that employers and workers really have to act now and address the problem of poor workplace health, international media reported.
"Unless we make radical changes to our working lives, such as moving more, addressing our posture at our desks, taking regular walking breaks or considering improving our workstation setup, our offices are going to make us very sick," Higham added.
