hafeez 400ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Committee on Energy and Power met here Wednesday to take immediate measures and devise strategy to overcome the energy shortage in the country.

The committee met under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, said a statement.

The meeting was convened on the direction of Prime Minister to take immediate measures and devise strategy to overcome the energy shortage in the country.

The meeting discussed various aspects leading to energy shortage in the country and supply of gas to power generating companies, receivables from the provinces, timely payment to GENCO's and the fuel price adjustments.

It may be recalled that the Prime Minister taking cognizance of the power outrages in residential and commercial centers of cities and towns, has directed the concerned ministries to take immediate action and give a detailed presentation for solving the problem.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Water and Power, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Secretary Finance, Secretary Petroleum and Natural Resources.
