HAMBURG: South Korean flour mills purchased about 75,000 tonnes of wheat from the United States in deals on Thursday, European traders said on Monday.

A range of different wheat grades were purchased in two separate deals for shipment from the US Pacific Northwest coast, they said.

One buyer purchased 50,000 tonnes for August shipment.

This included hard red winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein, bought at $190.15 a tonne on a free on board (FOB) basis, and northern spring with 14 percent protein bought at $221.43 a tonne FOB.

It also included soft white wheat of 10.5 percent protein bought at $213.33 a tonne FOB, soft white wheat of 9.5 percent protein bought at $215.17 FOB and soft white wheat with 8.5 percent protein bought at $217.01 a tonne FOB.

A separate mill bought 25,000 tonnes for shipment between Aug. 10 and Sept. 10, they said.

This included hard red winter of 11.5 percent protein bought at $190.67 FOB and northern spring wheat of 14 percent protein bought at $222 a tonne FOB.

The 25,000 tonne purchase also included soft white wheat of 10.5 percent protein bought at $213.64 a tonne FOB and soft white wheat of 8.5 percent protein bought at $217.41 a tonne FOB.
