London: European stock markets edged downwards in opening trade on Thursday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index 0.2 percent lower at 7,457.21 points.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index dipped 0.1 percent to 12,304.53 points, and the Paris CAC 40 also shed 0.1 percent to 5,569.21 compared with Wednesday's close.
