KIEV: Ukraine's sugar union Ukrtsukor revised down on Tuesday its forecast for the country's 2019 sugar beet sowing area to 205,000-210,000 hectares from the previous 230,000-280,000 hectares in 2018.
The union has said an overproduction of sugar in the previous season was the main reason for the smaller sowing area.
Ukraine produced around 1.8 million tonnes of sugar from sugar beet in 2018.
