Stage set Peshawar Zalmi to meet Quetta Gladiators in PSL4 final

The Peshawar Zalmi crushed the defending Islamabad United to make their way into the finals of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) fourth edition, and will now meet old nemesis Quetta Gladiators on Sunday at National Stadium, Karachi. 

The reigning champions only managed to min 166 runs at the loss of nine wickets in their chase of a massive 215 runs put on the board by Zalmi at the second eliminator of PSL4. This is the third time that the Yellow Storm has reached the PSL final.

Speedster Hasan Ali got the first breakthrough for Zalmi with the wicket of Luke Ronchi, who got caught by Daren Sammy at cover on 17. Alex Hales was the second to fall after he got a leading edge caught by Keiron Pollard of Chris Jordan delivery on 1.

Hasan Ali picked his second wicket of Cameron Delport on 28, after he was caught by Chris Jordan. Hard hitting batsman Asif Ali was out without disturbing the scoreboard much on naught, after he knicked stright into the hands of Kamran Akmal of Keiron Pollard delivery.

Chadwick Walton perished after hard fought knock of 48 of 29 deliveries, after he was caught by Nabi Gul of Tymal Mills delivery. Hasan Ali picked his third wicket of Hussain Talat on 19. Faheem Ashraf who was looking dangerous fallon 31 after he was caught by Umar Amin of Chris Jordan delivery.

Jordan also picked his third delivery after Mohammad Sami was caught by Pollard on 2, as United lose the plot. Wahab Riaz joined the party after he picked the wicket of Shadab Khan on naught, after he got caught by Daren Sammy.

Peshawar Zalmi posted 214 at the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs, against Islamabad United.

Kamran Akmal was the top scorer for Zalmi with a knock of 74, he was equally supported by his opening partner Imam ul Haq, who himself played a fine inning of 58.

The Peshawar Zalmi duo of Imam ul Haq and Kamran Akmal became the most successful partnership in HBL PSL 2019, going past the tally of 366 runs by Babar Azam and Liam Livingstone.

The 135 runs opening stand finally came to an end, after Imam ul Haq top edged a delivery of Cameron Delport to be caught by Luke Ronchi on 58. Kamran Akmal soon departed after he got caught on the deep mid wicket by Shadab Khan on 74 of Delport delivery.

Leggie Shadab Khan got the wicket of Sohaib Maqsood who got caught behind by Luke Ronchi on 4. Keiron Pollard was the fourth wicket to fall after he was given out for obstructing the field after a blasting inning of 37 off 21 deliveries.

Rumman Raees brilliantly run out Wahab Riaz on 1 in the final over of Zalmi's inning.

Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field first against Peshawar Zalmi.
