Turkish stocks up at daily close

ANKARA: Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Thursday with a 0.19-percent rise to close at 102,784.03 points. After opening the day at 102,752.83 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went up 299.61 points from the previous close.

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.2530 as of the daily close, as it was 5.2280 at Wednesday's close.

One euro traded for 5.9640 liras, versus 5.9570 at the previous close.

By market close, the British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.8220, compared to Wednesday's close of 6.7970. One ounce of gold was sold for $1,307.00 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, up from $1,314.10 at the previous close.

With a day range of $61.99 to $62.91, the price of Brent oil was around $62.12 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Thursday.
