The Karachi Port handled 232,326 tonnes of cargo comprising 161,221 tonnes of import cargo and 71,105 tonnes of export cargo including 1,204 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 161,221 tonnes comprised of 35,499 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20,710 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,940 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 5,720 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 95,352 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 71,105 tonnes comprised of 25,982 tonnes of containerised cargo; 450 tonnes of bulk cargo; 41,052 tonnes of clinkers; 1,021 tonnes ofcement and 2,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 1,204 containers comprising of 633 containers import and 571 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 13 of 20's and 250 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 60 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 41 of 20's and 77 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 188 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten three ships namely Northern Discovery, YM Excelent, CSCL Asia, CMA CGM Rigoletto, MT Karachi, Fairchem Valor, Seastar, Al Mahboobah, Glovis Century and Hoegh Kunsan carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and vehicles respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were ten vessels viz. CMA CGM Rigoletto, Ever Deluxe, SCF Alpine, Super Lady, Al Safa, Seastar, Glovis Century, Hoegh Kunsan, Elgiznur Cebi and Porthos carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, vehicles and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 140,861 tonnes comprising 103,110 tonnes of import cargo and 37,751 tonnes of export cargo including 3,804 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 103,110 tonnes includes 5,243 tonnes of coal; 35,287 tonnes of LNG; 2,180 tonnes of palm oil; 11,000 tonnes of canola and 49,400 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 37,751 tonnes includes 9,000 tonnes of crude oil; 5,726 tonnes of rice; 149 tonnes of project cargo 22,876 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,804 containers comprising of 2,600 containers import and 1,204 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were three ships namely Safmarine Ngami, Jeager and Magic Wand carrying containers, coal and crude oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely BF Ayita carrying general cargo is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, rice, canola, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven vessels viz. Northern Julie, African Bari Bird, Bhai Ravi, Gulf Horizon, Lia, Maritime Riyal and Silver Emily carrying containers, coal, chemical, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two ships viz. Northern Julie and Lia carrying containers and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were two ships namely Colette and Northern Julie carrying containers due to arrive on Monday. There are two ships namely Maersk Denver and Le Generosity carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
