National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Monday has decided to file a reference against senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and former Sindh minister for industries and commerce Muhammad Abdur Rauf Siddiqui and others for their alleged involvement in illegal appointments and fund embezzlement.
An official said this was decided at the NAB Executive Board Meeting (EBM), presided over by NAB chairman former Justice Javed Iqbal. The meeting approved to file a corruption reference against Siddiqui and others for misuse of authority in 372 illegal appointments and fund embezzlement which incurred loss of Rs 420 million to the national exchequer.
He said the meeting decided that the Bureau would now fully concentrate on the mega corruption cases and forward some inquiries to the departments concerned.
The official told that the EBM also approved launching of 12 corruptions inquiries against former National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) president Saeed Ahmed, officers and officials. The meeting also approved an inquiry against the officers and officials of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), Ministry of Water, and Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB).
The EBM also authorised inquiries against sponsors and others of Port Qasim Coal Power and Sahiwal Coal Power Project, DIG Haider Asharif, CCP Lahore Ameen Vinus, SSP Umer Virk and others, former Town Nazim Kamran Akhtar and MPA Baldia Town Karachi, officers and officials of PPIB.
The Bureau also started inquiries against officers and officials of Sindh Health Department, offices and officials of University of Swabi, some officers of public sector companies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officers and officials of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Bacha Khan Airport, officers and officials of erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Saeed Ahmed Jagrani, former Director NARA Canal Seed Mirpur Khas and officers and officials of Nusrat Division, Department of Irrigation, Sindh.
