The government Monday introduced to the National Assembly "The Anti-Money Laundering (Amendment) Bill, 2019" to allow Financial Monitoring Unit to seek Egmont Group membership (Group of Financial Intelligence Unit) which is a requirement under the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations.
The government also introduced "The Foreign Exchange Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and The Control of Narcotic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2019" in the House.
The House also unanimously approved a resolution condemning the terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka killing over 200 people. The resolution stated that Sri Lanka bravely fought the scourge of terrorism for years to emerge as a strong nation striving for peace and stability. It saluted the resilience of Sri Lankan people and assured them of the support of Parliament of Pakistan during these testing times.
The members of the House during the session also observed a one-minute silence in memory of the citizens of Sri Lanka who lost their lives in bomb attacks.
Earlier, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said that National Disaster Management Authority has dispatched an aid of Rs 204.053 million in form of blankets, tents, plastic sheets, water coolers, food packs to rain-affected areas of Balochistan and Sindh.
Responding to a calling attention regarding damage caused to the crops due to recent rains in the country, he said Provincial Disaster Management Authority Balochistan has also moved a summary of Rs 280.07 million to help the rain-affected people in the province.
Ali Muhammad Khan said that crops spreading over 12,940 acres of land have been affected in Punjab and the provincial government is undertaking a survey in this regard to finalise a proper strategy to mitigate sufferings of farmers.
Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser said a comprehensive report about the areas affected due to flood and rains across the country be submitted in the House.
