A week-long Nazim Peshawar Media Spring Sports Festival got under way here at historical Tehmas Khan Football Stadium here on Sunday. Nazim Peshawar Muhammad Asim Khan was the chief guest on this occasion who formally inaugurated the Festival.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, President Khyber Union of Journalist Fida Khattak, Secretary Muhammad Naeem, Secretary Peshawar Press Club, President Sports Writers Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ijaz Ahmad Khan Daudzai, Regional Sports Officer Jamshed Baloch, Chairman Sports Committee of SWA, KP Saad bin Awais, Secretary District Govt Sports and Culture Committee Waseem Akram, members from the print and electronic media and more than 150 journalists, teams of the district administrations and district government were also present during the colourful opening ceremony.
A total of 15 teams in eight different sports activities including two teams of SWA KP, two team each of Peshawar Press Club, Video Journalists Forum, photo journalists, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, District Nazim Peshawar and one team of crime reporters forum are taking part in different events including Tug-of-War, Archery, badminton, table tennis, futsal, snooker, squash, swimming, athletics and musical chair.
Speaking on this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan lauded SSWA, KP for holding the festival along with district government and district administration. He said such like activities are very much essential for the journalists' community who always overburden of their hectic engagements.
In his speech, Nazim Peshawar Muhammad Asim Khan appreciated the organizing committee for holding the week long Nazim Peshawar Media Spring Sports Festival wherein more than 150 journalists, members of the district govt and district administration are taking part.
He said that the district government has organized scorers of sports activities for the including for prisoners in prison, cross genders, short-statures, families, students both male and female and now for journalists. He underlined the active participation of journalists' community in healthy sports activities. He said assured all out support in this occasion.
In his welcome address, President Sports Writers Association Ijaz Ahmad Khan Daudzai thanked Nazim Peshawar for providing all out facilities to the journalists. He said the aim and object of such like activity is to provide due sort of entertainment to the journalists always overburden due to their hectic engagements.
At the end, President SWA Ijaz Ahmad Daudzai presented a shield to Nazim Peshawar Muhammad Asim Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, President KhUJ Fida Khattak, Secretary Peshawar Press Club Zafar Iqbal.
