Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has congratulated the newly-elected President of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) Hameed Haroon and Secretary General Sarmad Ali. In a statement issued on Sunday, the chief minister also extended his best wishes to other elected members including Senior Vice President Rameeza Majid Nizami, Vice President Mamtaz A Tahir, Joint Secretary S M Munir Jilani and Finance Secretary Shahab Zubari.
Buzdar said that the newspapers highlight social issues effectively. The role of newspapers to reshape public opinion cannot be denied even today. The PTI government believes in freedom of expression. We hope that the newly elected APNS members will play their effective role in addressing the issues of the media industry, he added. In their messages of felicitations, they have expressed the hope that the new office-bearers will also bring into full their best capabilities and experience for solving the problems and difficulties faced by the newspapers industry, journalists and other workers associated with it.
