The 79th Pakistan Day was celebrated with traditional zeal and enthusiasm across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday. Workers and members of different political parties, trade bodies, civil society organizations and people from different walk of life took part in special ceremonies, functions and peace walks, functions and special events held in connection with Pakistan Day in the province.
Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr prayers across the province, seeking solidarity, integrity, prosperity and welfare of the motherland. The day dawned with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals. Special function organised at government and private schools as well as rallies held in Peshawar city.
An official function was held in connection with Pakistan Day at Governor House Peshawar. Governor Shah Farman being chief guest on the occasion awarded presidential awards among people for their meritorious services. Provincial ministers, Chief Secretary Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mohammad Saleem Khan, administrative secretaries and people in a large number were present in the ceremony.
Speakers renewed the pledge that to work hard in their respective fields for progress, peace and prosperity of the country and give every sacrifice for defence and protection of motherland.
A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Rescue-1122 service provincial headquarter in Peshawar. Rescue-1122 contingent present march past on the occasion. The function held under supervision of District Emergency Officer, Sherdil Khan. Director General Rescue 1122, Dr Khateer Ahmad addressed the participant of the ceremony on the occasion.
To mark the Pakistan Day, a function was organised at police lane Peshawar. CCPO Qazi Jameelur Rehman participated as chief guest. He vowed that police forces will continue to sacrifice for protection of motherland.
The Department of Pak Studies, Islamia College Peshawar organised a function in connection with Pakistan Day at Roose Kapal Hall of the university. Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad, Chairman the Muslim Institute Islamabad was chief guest of the event, while vice chancellor of Islamia College University, Dr Habib Ahmad, Chief organizer Dr Noushad Khan, pro-vice chancellor Islamia college university were present on the occasion.
A colourful function was held in Postgraduate College Nowshera. After the flag hoisting ceremony, schoolchildren presented skids and sung national songs to commemorate the Pakistan Day with full enthusiasm and national zeal. A speech competition was also organised on the occasion.
A function also organised by Qartas Children Academy Mardan, wherein District Police Officer Sajjad Khan was chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the DPO said that children are future of the country. He stressed upon the students to take part in extra co-curricular activities along with their study.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Day was celebrated with national zeal and enthusiasm and with the pledge to defend the motherland on the price of their life in Landi Kotal, Khyber tribal district. In this connection local administration organized a gathering in jirga hall Landi Kotal that was joined by number of tribal elites, official, students and member of civil society. Students of government school, dressed in neat uniform, sang national songs that applauded by the audience. Local poets also paid homage to the country by presenting different prose.
Speaking on the occasion Assistant Commissioner Landi Kotal, Muhammad Imran said that 23rd March, reminded us that on the day the Muslims of the sub-continent through a resolution urged the British government to grant them a separate homeland because interests of the Muslim community could not be safeguard in united India. "Our forefathers won an independent state, "Pakistan" for us and now it is obligatory for us to work for its progress and prosperity and to make it unbeatable", AC remarked.
