Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh on Saturday issued directives for expeditious disposal of pre-arrest bail application and fixation of regular hearing of criminal application. The directives were issued to principal seat of SHC along with bench of the high court at Sukhur and circuit courts at Larkana and Hyderabad. CJ SHC issued these directives after the weekly progress report of criminal matters for the period from 04-03-2019 to 09-03-2019 were placed him.
The progress report revealed that there is a backlog of pre-arrest bail applications with 223 at Principal Seat, 112 at bench at Sukkur, 292 and 49 at Circuit Courts Hyderabad and Larkana respectively. The Chief Justice hoped that judges seized with the pre-arrest bail applications, apart from NAB matters, will decide the fresh and already pending bail applications within two weeks discouraging the tendency of adjournments.
However, in presence of reasonable and cogent grounds requests for adjournment be acceded to fixing the same on next working day. He directed the Registrar and the Additional Registrar of the Bench at Sukkur and Circuit Courts at Hyderabad and Larkana to place these observations/directions before the learned judges through their court Associates.
