The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday took into custody journalist Rizwan-ur-Rehman Razi for uploading 'defamatory and obnoxious posts' on his official Twitter account against the state institutions including the armed forces and judiciary. A first information report (FIR) stated that Razi was facing an inquiry regarding uploading of defamatory and obnoxious posts through social media accounts, particularly Twitter, against the judiciary, government institutions and intelligence agencies since June 2018.
"During the course of inquiry, the initial analysis of images and tracing of the alleged defamatory posts, it revealed that the said social media posts were made through an account of Twitter namely "@RaziDada" having web link, i.e. htpps://twitter.com/RaziDada," the FIR says. Subsequently, Razi was summoned by the agency and he recorded his statement before the inquiry officers, the FIR further says. During interrogation, the accused confessed to uploading the alleged posts against the judiciary and other state institutions through his official Twitter account "@RaziDada" which was in his use since 2011. "He is very embarrassed for the alleged posts and apologised," the FIR says further.
"The accused further excused that he would not upload derogatory and humiliating posts against the dignity of state institutions of Pakistan, i.e, judiciary, Pakistan armed forces and intelligence agencies," the FIR claimed and added that the mobile phone along with SIM No. 0321-4771165 of the accused was recovered and taken into custody as per seizure memo. During the inquiry, the forensic data extraction report was obtained which established that Razi uploaded derogatory and humiliating posts against the judiciary and the state institutions.
