Sindh Police has introduced 'biometric verification service' under which the advanced software will help police establish actual identity of an unidentified individual through his NADRA record if he or she hides identity.
The software is to operate from Central Police Office Sindh in Karachi through National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) link. Training of field officers to operate this software will begin working by Monday next.
"In this connection, Sindh police had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the NADRA on Saturday," Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Information Technology (IT) Sultan Ali Khwaja said this in a briefing to IG Sindh Dr Syed Kaleem Imam at the CPO on Friday.
With the help of this software, the DIGP (IT) said the identification of hardcore criminals such as terrorists, target killers who try to hide their identification from the investigation officers or give fake details about themselves, would easily be ascertained on 'one touch.'
He said unknown bodies can also be identified with the help of this technology.
This service is presently available at the CPO. All the District SSPs have been provided with Palm Devices that are linked online with CPO.
