Rain has broken the heat spell in the city and the citizens took a sigh of relief. The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) staff also expressed gratitude for easing down pressure on them with reduction in mercury. A strong wind kept blowing throughout the night of Friday and Saturday that led to rain in the morning. Rain spells continued with intervals in various parts of the city throughout Saturday.
Met office has predicted continuity of pleasant weather today as well, saying that further rains can take place before the mercury resurfaces to unbearable level. It may be noted that the mercury had crossed 40C during the outgoing week. Also, there was a sudden drop of humidity during the week which was quite an abnormal development in the midst of high temperatures. It was followed by thunderstorms and finally rain in the city. Weather remained very pleasant throughout the day and those observing fasting were found in high degree of comfort.
