The influential political Saifullah family has decided not to contest 2018 general elections due to affidavit to be submitted with nomination papers. According to reports, the lawyers of the Saifullah family had advised against contesting general elections as they are facing some references in NAB. The contesting family members have to submit similar statements with Returning officials and the NAB, which could be used for their disqualification in future. Quoting Salim Saifullah, the media reported that the family would contest elections after clearing all cases against them. The Saifullah family member's names were also revealed in Panama leaks.
Anwar Saifullah and Usman Saifullah are affiliated with PPP, while Salim Saifullah had signed seats adjustment agreement with PTI. According to reports, former President of Pakistan and president, PPP-Parliamentarian, Asif Ali Zardari have approached Anwar Saifullah Khan for contesting the election on the party ticket. However, he after consulting his lawyer preferred not contest.
Anwar Saifullah, Salim Saifullah, Usman Saifullah, Jehangir Saifullah and Hamayun Saifullah would not contest elections. However, according to Salim Saifullah, the family would not leave the field open as his relatives would be contesting elections from Lakki Marwat.
