Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed a slight increase during the week past against the preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that price of tomatoes went up from Rs 120 per 5kg to Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market were available at 40-45 per kg against Rs 35-40; price of onions also witnessed an increase, going up from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 180 per 5kg in wholesale market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 40.
The price of garlic remained stable at Rs 550 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 150 per kg. The price of Ginger was also stable at Rs 600 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 150 per kg. Local lemon price went up from Rs 700 per 5kg to Rs 760 per 5kg and price of Chinese lemon remained unchanged at Rs 370 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 110-180 per kg.
The survey observed that the price of live chicken went down from Rs 5,500 per 40kg to Rs 5,400 in the wholesale market which in retail was still being sold at Rs 170 per kg, while chicken meat was being sold at Rs 290 per kg. The Price of eggs in wholesale market remained stable and were sold at Rs 92 per dozen which in retail market were being sold at Rs 105 per dozen. Mutton was being sold at Rs 800 per kg while beef was available at Rs 450 per kg.
Spinach price slightly went up from Rs 90 per 5kg to Rs 100 per 5kg in the wholesale market while in retail it was being sold at Rs 25 per kg bundle. The price of Mint went down from Rs 200 per bundle of 5kg to Rs 180 in wholesale market while in retail a small bundle of 1/4 kg mint was being sold at Rs 25.
The price of Capsicum further went down from Rs 700 per 5kg to Rs 480 which in retail was being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 200; the price of peas further went up from Rs 130 per 5kg to Rs 150 per 5kg in wholesale market, which in retail were being sold at Rs 40 per kg; the price of taro (Arvi) remained unchanged and was being sold at Rs 250 per 5kg in the wholesale market while in retail it was available at Rs 60 per kg; the price of carrot went up from Rs 120 per 5kg to Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 30 per kg; and price of a pack of 8kg radish went down from Rs 120 per pack to Rs 80 which in retail market was being sold at Rs 20 per kg against Rs 25.
The price of beans went down from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 300 which in retail were being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 80; the price of Okra went down from Rs 700 per 5kg to Rs 650 which in retail was being sold at Rs 180 per kg against Rs 200; and the price of ridge gourd (Tori) went down from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 335 which in retail was being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 100. The price of turnip remained stable at Rs 100 per 5kg in wholesale market which in retail was being sold at Rs 30 per kg. The price of cauliflower went down from Rs 160 per 5kg to Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 25 per kg; and cabbage price went up from Rs 120 per 5kg to Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold Rs 40 per kg.
