A book titled "Invisible Ties" was launched at Indus Valley School of Arts and Architecture here on Saturday. 'Invisible Ties' is authored by Nadya AR, who is a psychotherapist and regularly contributes articles related to psychotherapy and conduct workshops, seminars and talks, both in Singapore and Pakistan.
The story of the book revolves around a lady Noor Kamal who found refuge in an antique jade mirror she stole from Daisy Kamal, her social butterfly mother. One fateful day, the violence hits home as a motley crew of burglars storm the Kamal residence, killing Joseph, the faithful driver who tried to shield Noor, and kidnapping Daisy.
Traumatized by the turn of events and succumbing to familial pressure, Noor reluctantly agrees to start life afresh in Singapore as the wife of Meekaal Kalim, an investment banker. Trapped in a loveless marriage, Noor finds succour in studying psychotherapy.
Her attempt to heal others brings her close to Ella, her neighbour, and Jake, a handsome American who is struggling to deal with his emotional breakdown. As she tries to exorcise ghosts from the past and break free from the shackles. The author narrates her story who Noor was able to liberate herself from her strong cultural values and ties.
A saga of love and longing, against a rich contrasting background, Invisible Ties is sure to appeal to readers. Sharing his thoughts on the book, eminent writer Javiad Jabbar lauded efforts of the author. He said that full of visual imagination. "It is all about the beauty of world", he remarked.
Noor Jahan Begum, a renowned writer, said Nadya has presented historical research while narrating journey of Noor. "The author has beautifully captured the environment of Noor's journey," she said. She described the author as keen observer.
In her words, the author Nadya AR thanked the people who rendered contributions in producing a book. She also expressed gratitude to her husband, Abbas Rahlmtoola, for standing beside her. "The creation of this novel was a long and arduous journey" she said. However, "I was fortunate enough to have access to libraries, literary resources, and mentoring while writing Invisible Ties. For transforming my vision into reality," she added.
