Lahore Gymkhana professional Sunny John Masih recorded historical Hole-in-One over Hole No. 7 and won 1000 CC Car worth Rs 1.5 million while Pakistan No. 1 Muhammad Shabbir maintained his second day lead of 11 strokes in the ongoing 3rd RMI National Ranking Open Golf Championship being played here on Saturday.
Besides Sunny John superb display, Pakistan No. 1 international golfers Muhammad Shabbir, Muhammad Munir and Muhammad Naeem started their second day round in a same flight by surprising fellow golfers with excellent rounds. The leader of the first day Muhammad Shabbir added a five under 67 to his overnight 66 by scoring an aggregated total of 11 under 133 over 36 holes.
In the second day round Muhammad Shabbir carded three under 33 at front nine and two under 34 at back nine with an Eagle at Par-3 hole no. 17 besides making three birdies at hole no. 4, 7 and 17. "It is very good that despite heavy down pour the response of the greens and fairways were so good," Muhammad Shabbir added. He also lauded the sponsors for increasing the prize money to Rs 2.4 million. Turning up 350 golfers mean the prize money is good and attractive, he said. Muhammad Shabbir was closely followed by another promising golfer Muhammad Ashfaq.
Ashfaq added the best round of the day's proceeding with his gross score eight under par 64 to his overnight two under 70 and struggling just a stroke behind with 10 under 134 over 36 holes. In the Amateur 12 and below international golfer and member of the Pakistan team Taimur Naseer of Pakistan Air Force carded a gross one under 71 with 35, one under at front nine and 36, par at back nine.
